$2000 rolex? the sub date retails for more than $4k!
i owned a sub and it was a fine watch with a mediocre bracelet. i also owned an SMP and it was a fine watch with a very good bracelet.
the sub costs more than 3x more than the omega. i live in silicon valley and subs are everywhere, and are most commonly worn as badges of conspicuous consumption bu folks who know jack squat about watches.
i owned the SMP for 4 years and the sub for 8 months. i loved the SMP until the end and i was never quite happy with the sub. in fact, toward the end i was embarassed to wear the sub.
i prefer watches in the < $500 range, though i would probably pay $1k for a watch if something at the prices really moves me.
the sub is a fine watch and the best looking diver, imo but is a $1500 watch tops. great watch but too much baggage and too pricey for me.
