Rough chronology of Seiko divers...
Shawn,
As usual, I'm no expert, but from what I've gathered from the posts here over the years, here's roughly the genealogy of the popular models:
1965: 1st diver - 6127-800T
1970s: 2nd series of divers - 6105A / 6105B
c.1977-1981: 3rd series of divers - 6309-700x (non-Japanese verion) / 6306 (Japanese version) - with big cases
c.1981: 4th series of divers - 6309 with slimmed down cases (rectangular markers?)
late 1980s-1996: 7002 divers
1996-present: 7S26 divers
There are some off-shoot models of Seiko "Sport" divers with 7005 calibers (rated to 70m), etc.
