Hi Manoj And You Have My Exact Watch! Plese Read...(More Info)>
Manoj, I guess I was asleep when you last made a post about this watch. This is great because I have this exact same Seiko, with the same markings and can provide some info. I bought this watch new in 1990. I still have it and it still keeps fabulous time and I've never had it serviced!
Most folks know that the models with the square indices were made for the American market and the round indices were sold to the rest of the world. The models with the black bezel inserts were the most prevalent of this model. Also, the 150m models are the earlier or first models and only had the date window and the 200m models are the latter models and were "upgraded" with the day and date windows.
I was living in L.A. in 1990 and these were fairly common, (the black bezel insert models), and sold for anywhere from $249.00 to $299.99 in jewelery stores. I had never seen a red/blue insert model until I went into a huge "swap meet" building, (a buliding that houses a bunch of different vendors), about 10 miles from where I lived and at the time, were commonplace in L.A.
In this building, an oriental gentleman was standing behind several huge glass display cases of watches. He had many of the black bezel watches of this same model but only had one with the red/blue bezel insert. I immediately liked it and he sold it to me for literally half the price the black bezel insert models were going for because he said this one wouldn't sell!
Anyway, there is a little history of this model 7002-700A. The original red/blue bezel insert models are far rarer than the black insert and the black are fairly scarce nowadays! And to think I listed mine "for sale" about a year ago for $75.00, (no takers), and everyone wanted the 200m day/date, black bezel insert model which can still be had fairly easily today. Glad it didn't sell!
