Work on this project started emiediatly after I sold my first SLICK 6105, roughly 6 monthes ago. The watch has been complete now for about a month, so as you can see, even my watches take some time.
I wanted this watch to represent everything I had learned concerning the 6105 movement, the 8110 case, and horology in general.
The watch was in about 75% condition when I got it, with the real exception being the bezel, it was near perfect. The dial markers had aged to an almost dark gray color, but the marker boarders where still good, NO green funk had crept in.
The movement is a custem 6105 running in 19 jewels. This was accomplished by using the top train plate from a 6119 on the base 6105 movement. Only the barrel is still running in bushings. The use of the 6119 plate necessitated the reshaping of the escape wheel top pivot, as it was too long. The balance staff pivots where dressed and polished on a jacot lathe, and the hairspring and curb pins where adjusted. Although no adjusting for position was done, the rudimentry adjusting and regulation has brought the watch to a consistant average of +2 seconds a day.
Extra time and care was taken on reluming the dial. There are two differences that denote the watches charactor included on the dial. The first is the use of a gold Seiko emblem below 12 o`clock, and the use of a black date wheel, also donated from the 6119.
The watch soon found a home on a black Sirtoli Shark, from Lou A. and a deployment sourced from Don Ginsler.
Although I have a SKX bracelet standing ready for it, I like the class the Sirtoli adds to the watch.
And there you have it, SLICK II.
Thanks for reading, and have a merry CHRISTmas.
