Here's another vintage Seiko quartz diver...
There've been quite a few postings lately about vintage Seiko quartz divers not getting a lot of attention from collectors. Well, here's one that most people would overlook as just another plain jane quartz sports watch...
But if you look a little more closely at the dial, you'd notice it says,
SQ
PROFESSIONAL
DIVER'S 200m
The Seikoholics among you might remember this post by Pete W. on his "slightly different" quartz diver:
This one is an identical model -- one of the elusive Professional 200m divers (except mine has a pepsi dial). Many people know the Big Boy shrouded divers, but Seiko apparently made a bunch of these non-shrouded professional divers that use the similar reinforced structural designs as their bigger brothers but in a very ordinary case style.
My diver dates from 1988 (I think), but it uses a second hand that's identical to the new-style hand on the current SKX007 series (with the round dot on the wrong end). Instead of the unpainted steel hands of the vintage auto divers, the borders of the hour and minute hands are painted white.
This Professional 200m diver is #10 in Mr. Tokunaga's Watch Museum:
Here's description of the diver from Mr. Tokunaga's webpage:
_
The best-seller professional 200m diver's watch model which attained the performance in 200m saturation diving. The movement is [7C43] which has the same performance as that of [7C46] and smaller size, and magnetic-resistant ability with the high reliability of higher output torque. Although the case structure is a standard type two-piece case (with screw case back) specification, there are 15 new technologies in this case such as; the powerful glass screw ring fixed structure same as 600m with the same glass fixing structure, L shaped glass gasket structure, glass screw ring fixing structure, twin side shield crown structure, special elastic strap made from polyurethane rubber of SEIKO original strap.

I got this diver from ebay for less than the price of an SKX007K and sent it to Coserv for a new battery, new gaskets and pressure testing. In the couple of weeks I've had it, it has been right smack on time.
The thing is, I wouldn't have gotten this watch if one of our fellow forumers hadn't tipped me off about it. I want to thank Time2Fly/H. Pham for helping me get this watch. The amount of help and generosity others are willing to give us is what I love about this forum! Thank you all and above all thank you Time2Fly!
