The 6309 Moter Swap,the conclusion..............(scans)
Well,Ive been wearing my 6309 diver for the last week, and must say that I am very pleased with the outcome.
For those that missed my first postings about my movement transplant, the link is here:
NOTE: Most of the imformation is in my follow ups to the original post.
Ok,heres the finished 6306. I leave the roter OFF,untill the movement is in the case, makes it much easier to handle this way.
Heres what the top plate looks like with the calender dials installed. Many thanks to Dustin, for confirming that those are in fact Japanese characters on the day wheel.
In the scan above, the crown and stem are installed in preperation for fitting the hands, and synchronizing the hands to the date change. In this case I got incredibly lucky the first time around, with the date change occuring at 20 seconds befor midnight ;^).
Remember the close ups of the balance cap jewels and my dissapointment with them? This is what a properly cleaned and oiled cap jewels looks like. Theres no film,or dirt. The oil is centered, and clean, you can see right though it.
Heres the movement in the case, the case back is going to be screwed down now.
I`ve included this scan,in hopes that someone can tell me the significance of the screen printing on the roter,it says Hittori,or Hityori Co. LTD.
Does enyone know what that means, where it was sold,or what? (BTW,Who says a SEIKO movement is ugly?)
And here it is,the finished 6309/6306, again on my favorite strap for this watch. The "Waterborne" 1" strap just screams "Military",it says "I`m ready for duty, Sir".
As I said in my opening paragraph,I`m very happy with the new movements performance. After some minor adjusting, and two trips to the timer for regulating to my personal error, the watch is keeping phenomenal time. Although the watch has a gross error of 15 seconds between the fastest, and slowest positions,my spliting the difference, and then adjusting for my personal error has brought the watch to +/- 2 seconds a day when worn on my wrist. I`m Very happy indeed.
Now,after spending an estimated 10+ hours on the watch,I thought I`d like to add a little statement to it. Perhaps this watch is not what it seems.
BTW,I "hacked"(giggle)the watch for this shot!
Now I wouldnt trade this watch for _2_ NOS examples.
Thanks for reading,
Randall
