2205 ladies diver database - the "forgotten professional" 150m >
well, the watch collector (ramon) came through for me again and just arrived was an "as is" but all original 2205-0769. I believe the serial number dates this to 1980 because, I do not believe, but may be quite wrong, that this model was not made in 1970 or 1990.
I have seen some later 2205 models that do not say "professional" and chronograph.com has a same sized one that is a 4205 movement (not to mention the larger two sizes available in 4205).
anyways, crystal is dinged and buffed to stink, readbale at most angles:), hands look all original and dial is ok, but overall both need new lume and cleaing. bezel turns fine, but the insert is rough! orginal pins but not band, now this size is hard to find a band for!
dialis marked japan and case back is japan-a stamped. this is not marked "daineisokha" or whatever some of the earlier 2205 ladies professionals are marked. this runs like a champ... but- way too fast, I mean like 10 to 15 seconds fast a minute!
I think someone messed with the regulator arm us mortals are not supposed to touch. playing with the ok to touch arm ranges me from 6 to 12 seconds fast a minute full trial of postions. some postions stop the movement. I even played with the taboo arm, and still cannot get a good accuarcy out of it. but, correct me if I am wrong, but running too fast beats not running, running to slow, and start and stop respectively, does it not. based on previous recent dealings, "movement repair" and regulation at coserve should run me 67 to 81 dollars. this also gets a free cleaning, gaskets, and pressure test. if available, nos hands and bezel insert would be about 20$ total. that still would leave me with an ugly dial, good thing lots in our cliche are good at relume!
anyways, this goes into my huge pile of vintage needing service. I am a 600m vintage auto, a 6306, and a "water proof" dialed 6105 away from stopping collecting (hah- that is my plan, but man, these trade forums and ebay are hard to resist, let alone japan yahoo!) I want another of these or two so each kid (third is on the way) will have a diver to start with and then start at least their first kid with.
I figure 100-175 bucks total for a working to primo piece when all is said and done. I know a new 4205 this size is 150 from lee, but gosh darn it, its not vintage and does not say "professional".
please add scans, models, info on the 2205 series to this post, as I consider it the start of our 2205 database.
