Hmm... well it depends on what you like. Personally i want a bezel to be VERY tight. and the 779K is. certianly the 173 is a nice one. Both have the 120 "second" increments. But i have knocked the bezel a few increments on the 173. this one wont budge unless you want it to. and the bezel gaurds give it even more protection. Mine is pretty stiff but that may be because it is new. the funny thing is that normal when i would adjust the bezel on my 173 i would do it at the 12:00 and 6:00 positions. so this one takes some getting used to. the 779K bezel is harder to turn but like i say, i think this is a good thing!
