6217-8000T Information (scan)
The 6217-8000T was Seiko's 1st diver's watch. It had the model number 62MAS. It was first relesed in 1965.
Since your serial number begins with a "6," yours is a 1966.
Below is a scan I found on the net.
The information on Page 66 of the Tombow Press book is really about the release in 1968 of the 6105A, and it compares this watch with the 6217A.
It says the 6105 was the second-generation improvement on the 6217. Things which were changed include:
* "Locking crown" on the 6105.
* Case shape changed to include a crown guard.
* Screw-in caseback design changed to prevent water from coming in. This was apparently a problem with the 6217.
* Hardlex crystal installed on the 6105 models.
