size makes all the difference here. My first Seiko diver was a skx015 mid-size, and I sold it right away...too small at 37mm. Divers need to be full size, imho. At 42mm, the 173 won't leave you saying, "damn, I wish it were a few mm bigger..." (until you try on a 6309 6105...then the 173 will seem slightly small...)
