I have one at Randall's for a makeover that has a 7-digit serial number>>>
My 6105-8000 has the number 8723XXX. Unfortunately, I can't remember if it had the "X" mark that you're talking about (but it seems like it did).
If I recall correctly, someone once posted that they thought that the serial numbers for Seikos changed from 7 to 6 digits somewhere around 1968-69 (pony maybe?). This would mean yours was one of the last 7-digit models made.
