I got mine in Japan. When I saw it in the store, and especially after I got it home and started wearing for a few days, I was SHOCKED by the high quality at this price.
If you check the "history of bids" on the ebay link I provided above, you'll note the final sale price of the '72 diver was $78! Isn't that amazing? I don't know what this watch retailed for back then, but I bet it wasn't that much. And still running great after 29 years!
You may want to look at these old Seiko divers from a Japanese web site.
Hey, if you do decide to get a SKX173, you'll be joining a tradition.
