First Seiko was a 1960s Sealion my dad bought in Japan
when he used to travel frequently to the far east. He had been an avid fan of Bulova/Accutron, but when he visited Japan and saw the quality and value of Seikos he was sold. He owned a bunch of different ones through the years, including a cadre of Seiko 5s and quartz models.
That old Sealion was a great watch, never serviced and up until the day it was stolen it continued to keep good time, within 10 seconds a day.
Anyway, the first watch I ever bought myself was a Seiko alarm Chronograph, saved up and paid, I think, $125 or so for it (which I thought was insanely expensive at the time).
