Hello John,
This 2205 mid-size diver has been mine ever since my dad gave it to me for my 10th birthday in 1979. I wore this one daily until the automatic winding mechanism broke down and the crystal got some nasty scratches. It ended up in a drawer when I got another watch.
The watch bug bit me really hard about a year ago and by summer I was a regular lurker on this and other fora. It was Shawn's enthousiam as well as that of the other guys on vintage Seiko divers that made me remember I had one myself. I decided to bring it to my watchmaker and had it serviced. The crystal and strap were replaced, as well as the gaskets and some movement parts. I could swim with it again, but I won't. It's a vintage watch now and I got my SXK423 for that purpose.
The watch runs great now, gaining or losing up to 10 seconds per 24 hours depending on its resting position. This is fine with me and very good for an almost 24 year old watch.
Thanks to Shawn and the other Seiko diver fans here for making me remember owning a great little vintage Seiko diver. This one is a keeper.
Best regards,
Bas
