...high tech equipment is impossible for the majority of scuba divers. So, when you consider that there are many "dive" watches that go much deeper than the 200m standard (e.g., Breitling Super Ocean goes to 5000 feet, I believe) it's almost a joke that many watch companies market their dressy watches to be able to go to deep subterranean depths. Professional divers at deep depths, I believe, use dive computers. Recreational divers can easily use 200m rated watches and feel safe (that nothing will happen to the watch).
