Good point...

You make a good point that there's no proof that the 007K and 009K are made in Singapore. I was under the impression that some of those models say "Singapore" on the dial or caseback -- I know the SKX173/175 do (actually they say "Mov't Singapore"). Looking at my 007K, I see that it doesn't say "Singapore" anywhere.
As far as Seiko telling you that they are made in Japan, well, I'd take their word for it, too. But as some folks have said before, it's hard to say exactly what that means because some parts may be manufactured in different Asian countries and assembled elsewhere and still say "Made in Japan." Or it could mean everything is assembled in Japan with parts sourced from other countries. So "Made in Japan" could be referring to part of the manufacturing/assembly process or may in fact be just a labelling convention because Seiko is a Japanese company. I believe Seiko when they tell us that the divers are made in Japan, but that's not necessarily the whole story.
I think a lot of folks agree that wherever the Seiko divers are actually made/manufactured/assembled, they are excellent watches. I don't know if I care that much about the origins of my divers as long as they perform they way they're supposed to, and they have.
Peace!
