Do both: restore it and buy a new SKX007 diver...
...your watch can be fully restored and timed to do much better than -5 minutes a day. The watch will look great if you use the right repair person. Also, you should get yourself a new (or slightly used) SKX007 (@$100-$150)which you should wear as the temporary replacement for your 6309 when it's being repaire and afterward so that your 6309 doesn't get subjected to extreme sports once repaired (you'll save it a bit). Just my thoughts.
