BTW...why would the MM crown need to be unscrewed periodically while in the diving bell? The pressure differential wouldn't exist until the watch had been returned or was in the process of returning to atmospheric pressure.
Also, if the MM has the 'L' shaped crystal mechanism; why release the stem at all?
