So is the gasket made out of some kind of "super rubber"?>
Great explanation, Les. Too much math for me, though.
I know that the shape of the gasket and how it fits with the case and crystal is crucial, as is the one-piece case design (I mentioned this), but I thought the crystal gasket was just rubber. Same as you would find in other Seiko divers. I thought the genius was in how these watches were assembled.
Does an unacceptable amount of helium leak THROUGH natural rubber? If so then what is the gasket made of? Rubber? Viton? Or something else? Did you read somewhere that it was made of something different? Regards, Aaron
